Person sitting in an armchair, wearing a green and white sweater, writing in a notebook with a pen, and resting a pillow in their lap.

I am a writer, activist and lecturer at City University in London.

My writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Independent, and Tes, and I have appeared as a political commentator on current affairs programming for the BBC, Sky News, and Channel 4. I hold a Masters in Comparative Literature from University College London, and a Masters in Education Policy from King's College London.

My book Miss: When a Teacher Breaks the Rules, about the nine years I spent as an Inner London English teacher, was due to be published in November 2025 by Repeater Books, an imprint of Watkins Media. Following revelations about the ties of the Watkins CEO to an Israeli AI company working with the IDF, I withdrew the book and am part of the Boycott Watkins campaign.

Alongside my writing and teaching, I facilitate meditation retreats at The Barn at Sharpham Trust and maintain a (relatively!) committed daily practise. My practise is primarily influenced by the Plum Village and Insight meditation traditions, and I have also undertaken courses with the Centre for Mindful Self-Compassion. I draw on heart-centred approaches across all my writing, teaching, and activist work.
